Barack and Michelle Obama Reveal Their Favorite Movies and TV Shows of 2015

No love for 'Steve Jobs,' sadly.

Seeing well-earned mentions like Aziz Ansari and Mad Max: Fury Road in this morning's Golden Globe nominations was pretty nice, but what about these undeniable picks from Barack and Michelle Obama? The Obamas recently gave People the distinct pleasure of hosting the reveal of those selections. Thankfully, they do not disappoint.

POTUS named Ridley Scott's The Martian, starring a Mars-stranded Matt Damon, his favorite cinematic experience of the past 12 months. Though certainly no Interstellar, Ridley's take on the loneliness of outer space was at least realistic enough to convince a lot of people that all of it is actually based on a true storyInside Out, the Pixar instaclassic starring Amy Poehler, was the clear winner for FLOTUS. Pixar never misses, obviously, and neither does Michelle Obama.

More interesting, however, are the couple's respective picks for the best TV of 2015. Barack favors the Cinemax heaviness that is The Knick, while Michelle is partial to Anthony Anderson's Black-ish. As previously confirmed, the Obamas have excellent tastes. Just askKendrick Lamar.
