Almost 8000 people have been invited and nearly 1000 have already listed themselves as “going”.

When Corey Worthington’s party created a solid 15 minutes of fame for the Melbourne teen, it was perhaps most surprising that there weren’t more successful copycats in the years passed. In fact, Worthington’s party was in 2008, and the invitation was sent out through Myspace, giving a very clear concept of just how long ago this all actually was.

But it appears that someone may potentially trump Worthington’s record for loosest party of all time this week, as Mount Druitt will see “Shalvey’s Biggest Open Christmas Party” take place on Saturday – complete with a boxing ring made from old mattress springs and sticks. Almost 8000 people have been invited and nearly 1000 have already listed themselves as “going” to the illegal western Sydney bushland party, with organisers promising it will be the “biggest party ever” and is set to boast “laser lights, big speakers and [a] massive fire”.

The party’s organisers have already called the event “Project S”, perhaps hoping to evoke the spirit of the film of a similar name. The person who posted the image of the boxing ring set-up also reassured everyone that it would be good to go for the night, but has been limited to “one-on-ones only”.

The Facebook event is indeed still up, and planners remained defiant in the face of discussion that police will be present in the area to prevent under-age drinking and drug use, or possibly shut the party down completely. One organiser offered the following on Facebook:

“Everyone just kick back yeah. Yeah the cops think there shutting it down Fuck who cares if we going party keep your stupid fucking post to yourselves cause we Gunnar party no matter what any of you's say 100%”

That sure sounds like someone who knows what they’re doing. Whether the party will make it off the ground due to the police presence, or if it will be subject to a shutdown that would make even Skepta jealous, still remains to be seen.
