And it's a big departure from the Wii.

New reports are floating around the gaming community that Nintendo will be launching their new console, titled the 'NX', next year.

According to the Digitimes the NX, which is currently billed as a working title, will go into production early next year and is expected to exceed the sales of the Wii U. There’s currently very little information regarding Nintendo’s new console so we’re not sure whether it’s a successor to the current console or a new handheld system. We’re just praying they won’t be dropping some amiibo BS us.

If it is indeed a new home console this will pretty much be a sign that the Wii U's lifespan is coming towards an end. Since the release back in 2012 it’s impact on the gaming community has been lackluster to say the least, despite superb titles such as: Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Nintendo are in need of a severe push and considering their uncharacteristically poor showcase at this year's E3 it seems the alarm bells are ringing for Mario and co. It also poses a question for one of their highly anticipated games, the Legend of Zelda, which is another one of Nintendo's marquee titles, it is currently scheduled for the Wii U next year but with possibly a new console on the horizon could that be about to change? A four year lifespan for a games console is considered incredibly short , so if it is true all we can say is we’ve seen hamsters that have lived longer and more fulfilling lives.
