After Jurassic Worldgrossed more than $1.6 billion worldwide, it’s not surprising that a sequel was announced shortly afterward. Unbeknown to audiences and Universal executive Donna Langley, the original plan was to create a trilogy from the reboot.

During a recent roundtable with other executives for the Hollywood Reporter, he revealed plans for the future of the franchise. As it turns out, there’s going to be plenty more dinosaurs roaming around on the big screen very soon.

“[Director] Colin Trevorrow is busy working on an outline. He’s been working with Steven [Spielberg],” he said. “And they have an idea for the next two movies actually. It was designed as a trilogy, unbeknown to us. It’s a happy surprise.”

Trevorrow will also write the film but that will be the extent of his involvement because of his commitment to Star Wars: Episode IX.  However, stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt are set to return. Look out for more wacky shenanigans from the silly humans who didn’t learn the first four times when the second film lands in theaters June 22, 2018.
