Underage Schoolies Caught Out With 60 Litres Of Alcohol In Their Car

The boys were caught on the way to the Whitsundays with the absurd amount of alcohol, which was confiscated.

In another case of schoolies behaving badly (or as expected), sixty litres of beer, alcopops, rum, vodka and liqueur were confiscated from a group of three under-aged boys at the Whitsundays on Saturday. If represented purely in VB, that’s about 160 standard cans, and in vodka cruisers, it’s almost 220 bottles – which seems like it would make for an absurd night for a group of adults, let alone a trio of kids that can’t even legally drink.

Their vehicle was stopped at Shute Harbour Road on the way to Airlie Beach Schoolies at about 3pm on the fateful Saturday, and the boys were issues with infringement notices. In perhaps the saddest development, the excessive amount of alcohol was apparently completely disposed of.

As seems to be current protocol, Acting Senior Sergeant Nathan Blain said police are still very happy overall with the Schoolies attendees this year despite this incident, and acknowledged that they're all here to have a good time and celebrate the end of their schooling. If they’re sliding through with 60 litres of liquor on deck, that's very possibly the understatement of the year.
