Rather than receive counseling for selling meth, a former New Jersey vice principal decided to end his own life by leaping from the Palisades cliffs on Saturday. According to reports, John Norton’s body was found more than 300 feet below the precipice.

Authorities first discovered a car parked in near the New York border at 8 p.m. Saturday and, after confirming that it belonged to him, issued a missing persons alert Sunday morning. Per the New York Daily News, Westchester County police used thermal imaging to check the area and soon found his body.

Norton was sentenced to five years in a drug treatment program for pleading guilty to peddling drugs. The ex-vice principal worked at an elementary school in Franklin, N.J. before he was busted for selling meth back in 2013. He would have had to participate in random drug screenings and counseling as part of the plea.
