Three People Dead After Car Hits Family of Trick-or-Treaters in the Bronx

One of the victims was a 9-year-old girl.

Tragedy struck the Bronx on Halloween, as three trick-or-treaters were killed after being struck by a car on the sidewalk. The victims—Nyanna Aquil, 9; Luis Perez, 65; Nyanna Aquil, 9; and Kristian Leka, 24—were all part of two extended families. Three other people were also injured and are listed in critical condition, the New York Postreports

Police say the driver, 57-year-old Howard Unger, lost control of his vehicle after suffering a seizure or "experiencing some other medical problem." The car hit another vehicle before plowing into dozens on the sidewalk and ending up in a front yard. A close friend of Leka, who wished to stay anonymous, said told the New York Post Kristian desperately tried to push his his sister out of the way before he was hit. 

A 14-year-old boy, Johnny Ha, was walking home when he saw the crashed car in his front yard. "I was traumatized, scared and afraid," he said. "I didn’t know what to do.’"
