As the White House hosted a forum to discuss criminal justice tonight, President Barack Obama used the opportunity to defend activists' use of "black lives matter" as a rallying cry, and explain why "all lives matter," the slogan taken up by those opposed to the movement, does not work.
I could analyze and comment on what Obama had to say, but since I'm not possibly going to say it better than him, let's just drop the full transcript of his comments right here:
"Everybody understands all lives matter. Everybody wants strong, effective law enforcement. Everybody wants their kids to be safe when they're walking to school. Nobody wants to see pole officers who are doing their job fairly, hurt. Everybody understands its a dangerous job.
