Freddie Gray's Mom Tried to Take Her Own Life

Freddie Gray died while in police custody last April.

After reaching a settlement in September with the City of Baltimore over the wrongful death of her son Freddie Gray, Gloria Darden reportedly attempted suicide late Wednesday night.

WJZ reports that authorities were called around 9:35 p.m. requesting medical assistance for Darden, who was transported to a nearby hospital. She is said to have sustained superficial wounds which didn't require stitches or surgery.

Gray died back in April from severe spinal injuries while in police custody, sparking public outcry for justice not only in Baltimore, but around the country. His death was later ruled a homicide and six officers have been charged.  Baltimore awarded his family $6.4 million in a civil settlement.

Darden is currently under psychiatric evaluation.
