Jaden Smith’s new squeeze, Sarah Snyder, may be a thief, but she has damn good style—even when thieving.
The 19-year-old was arrested for allegedly stealing a $15,995 Hermès bag from a high-end boutique in Katonah, New York, Entertainment Tonight reported, and is currently facing larceny charges. Hermès isn’t exactly a soft target, and you’d think Snyder has money to buy the bag, being a young, budding…something. (OK, the Internet says she’s a model, but where has she modeled?)
On Thursday, Snyder made light of her arrest by posting a selfie in which she wears a grey T-shirt featuring her mugshot. She also reportedly wore the same T-shirt to court—clearly, this girl gives zero fucks.
Snyder isn’t the first public figure to wear a T-shirt with their face on it; several other trailblazing celebrities already paved the way for her. But this kind of fashion isn't for mere mortals—you have to reach an unparalleled level of self-love and delusion first. Celebrities wearing clothes emblazoned with their faces is truly a beautiful sight to behold, the kind of meta display of narcissism that we need, but don’t deserve.
Here are some iconic moments in egoistical celebrity T-shirt history:
Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton has been feeling herself since the dawn of time, and T-shirts featuring her likeness are a wardrobe staple for the heiress. Hilton’s latest shirt is printed with a silhouette of her entire person, and includes the word “High Off My Love.” She is a pioneer of this style, and imitators better watch themselves.
Taylor Swift
Not many celebrities with as much star power as Taylor Swift have a sense of humor about themselves. This impressive peach sweater, which the singer shared via Instagram, was knitted by a Swiftie over the span of eight months. The result? The most adorable-slash-baller Instagram post of all time.
Carmelo Anthony
New York Knicks player Carmelo Anthony chose a subtler option, but still didn’t opt out of tribal patterns and splashes of vivid color.
James Franco
Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage jokes write themselves, and who better to make a Cage joke than the man himself? By sporting a “You Don't Say?” rage-comic face on his T-shirt, the actor managed to further meme-ify a meme. Cage wore this extremely culturally appropriative cowboy-pimp-yogi ensemble at a Guns N' Roses concert last year in Las Vegas.
