When recent Yale University graduate and noted conservative activist Tyler Carlisle stabbed his longtime friend and roommate before ultimately leaping to his death from his New Haven apartment back in May of 2014, local residents were left bewildered by the incident. Initial details painted the stabbing-suicide as a bizarre and seemingly random act of violence, though newly released documents from the New Haven Police Department paint a much more detailed picture.

Using the allowances of the Freedom of Information Act, Gawker reportedly obtained a "police incident report" that provides additional details on what may have inspired both the stabbing and the suicide:

Upon arrival, Officers Hwang, Lavache, and I approached [apartment number redacted] and heard a woman screaming, “in here” and the apartment door was open. As we entered the apartment, we saw the victim, later identified as Alexander Michaud, sitting in a chair, naked, in the living room covered in blood. A female, later identified as [name redacted], who was also naked, was holding a white t-shirt to Michaud’s neck attempting to apply pressure. We were informed by [the female undergraduate] that the offender, Tyler Carlisle, jumped out of the window prior to our arrival.

The documents also reveal that Carlisle apparently stabbed Michaud, a fellow member of Yale's Party of the Right organization, after becoming "jealous" during their "alcohol-fueled" threesome. Though both have refused to issue any statements to the press, Michaud and the unidentified female student are both currently still enrolled at Yale University.
