It’s been on the cards for ages now, but the long awaited sequel to Trainspotting looks like it is actually all confirmed now. Probably. Speaking to Deadline about his new film Steve Jobs, director Danny Boyle confirmed that all the main cast from the original 1996 British classic are on board.

All the four main actors want to come back and do it,” Boyle said, referring to Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle and Kevin McKidd. Irvine Welsh wrote Porno, the sequel to Trainspotting in 2002, and a film version with the returning cast has long been touted, but was put into doubt after a falling out between McGregor and Boyle. But now they’ve kissed and made up, it’s definitely back on, and the script has been written.

Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series,” Boyle continued. Which means we might have to still await a little longer. But we’re edging there.
