Canadian Comedian Cassidy Boon showed just how easy it is to troll mainstream media, after uploading a video entitled "Eating Vegemite is racist towards Aboriginals - because it is black". In the video, Boon claims the nationally-loved spread is "a way to symbolically make white Australians feel superior to Aboriginals by literally eating their f*****g skin in a jar." After sitting around on YouTube for two months, the video has been picked up by a major website today and shared by over 13,000 enraged Aussies.
A quick background check of Miss Boon however will also reveal a previous video, in which she claims to have passed out underwater, only to be resuscitated 'without consent'. Oh and an article that directly refers to her as a comedian.
The facts seem to have taken a back seat though, as they often do on the internet, as Australians have made a few things perfectly clear - we're not into fact checking, and don't mess with our Vegemite.
