A Mississippi woman is under fire after posting a graphic photo of a cat she allegedly burned alive to Facebook. In a heated post, Latika "Shay" Houston says she committed the act in retaliation of the stray cats that would appear around her house. According to Fox 40 News, she bragged about it with the caption, “I should take it to the backyard and finish it off.... Thinking (devil emojis) stay away from my house!!!"

Animal lovers around the world were outraged and Jackson police says they issued a bench warrant for her arrest. Things took an even stranger turn when a woman identifying herself as Houston called into Fox 40 News to clear her name. The station reports that she claimed this was all a joke, that the picture was found on the internet and no cat was actually harmed.

Outraged users might want to put down the pitchforks for the time being. Police are still investigating the situation and have yet to file charges.“We got the information on Facebook, we acted it, but we still have more to look into,” Officer Colendula Green told the Daily News on Tuesday morning.

Fake or not, that is one image we just can’t unsee.
