The family is understandbly angry.

Besides high profile cases of racism such as the Charleston shooting, Freddie Gray or Sandra Bland’s deaths, 2015 has seen smaller but similarly repugnant instances of racism, be it in frats, Hulk Hogan saying the N-word, or a book club of black women being kicked off a train for being too loud. It’s instances like these that precursor the loss of black lives and that’s why this story out of Florida is particularly disturbing.

Courtney Gordon of Palm Bay Florida had his home vandalized by some individuals who burned the N-word (ending with the "R") in 3-foot letters into his front lawn. Gordon told WESH-TV,

"I feel like this is a threat to me and my family, so I'm not too happy about it.”

He said he’s since seen people slow down when they drive by his house just to read the racial slur.

It’s believed the individuals, whose identities are still unknown, used weed killer to burn the lawn. Gordon says he might know who did it, saying it was a “group” but Gordon says he leaves them to God.

Gordon reported the incident to police who are investigating. They have yet to decide if the case is classified as a hate crime.
