If Apple's latest estimates are correct, then the mysterious but so very powerful #AppleHive is at least 10 million members strong. This figure, of course, comes from Apple's recent announcement that they are currently "on pace" to top 2014's opening weekend sales record of 10 million iPhones. Casual Apple consumers may not have noticed a brief website interruption on Saturday, spawned by the Hive's 10-million-strong presence clamoring for their place in smartphone history.
"We are on pace to beat last year's 10 million unit first-weekend record when the new iPhones go on sale September 25," an Apple representative confirmed to Mashable. "As many customers noticed, the online demand for iPhone 6s Plus has been exceptionally strong and exceeded our own forecasts for the preorder period. We are working to catch up as quickly as we can."
Last week's keynote event in San Francisco at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium also marked the debut of the iPad Pro and the new Apple TV, including the addition of a potentially game-changing Siri feature on the TV's remote. Steve Jobs vs. Stylus jokes aside, the perplexing unveiling of the Apple Pencil is another undeniably compelling addition to the Apple arsenal.
Enjoy your old Apple paraphernalia over the next two weeks, as that collection will be practically worthless on September 25.
