The 'Straight Outta Compton' Movie Is Oscar-Worthy, According to Twitter

It's no Notorious, that's for sure.

Yesterday, Straight Outta Compton debuted in theaters nationwide. Given the multi-million dollar hype that went into promoting this long-anticipated N.W.A biopic, and given that its release inspired Dr. Dre to drop his first solo album in sixteen years, we expected that Twitter would have a lot to say about the film. Fortunately, Twitter delivered in ways that only Twitter can—with hyperbolic praise, grainy memes, and emojis.

Everyone seems to agree that Straight Outta Compton exceeds earlier expectations, with hip-hop fans having previously feared that the project would be Notorious all over again. Thankfully, that's far from the case. Early viewers of Straight Outta Compton are already campaigning for Jason Mitchell's nomination for an Oscar on the strength of his portrayal of the late Eazy-E.

Let's recap these early fan reviews, below.

Are history and the promotion of SAC reducing Ren to a peripheral role, when he basically carried NWA on his back, especially post-Cube?
