India Bans Porn Sites, People Immediately Find Ways Around It

The Indian government has banned Internet porn, but people immediately found a way to keep looking at it.

In an obvious bid to become the most powerful and productive country on Earth, the government of India has banned one of the most basic of human rights – Internet porn

As The Hollywood Reporter reports, the country's Internet service providers must now block access to more than 800 porn sites. That includes everything from heavyweights like Pornhub to cult favorites such as africansexvideos.net and something called pinkythekinky.com, according to this leaked government list

The Indian government said it was banning the sites to prevent them from becoming a "social nuisance."

Advocates of the ban say porn is responsible for more sex crimes, while people on the opposite side argue that it creates a safe outlet for people to blow off some (horny) steam.

Of course, people immediately started looking for ways around the ban, and Quartz was quick to oblige with a handy list of ways, including other sites, proxies, VPNs, social networks, torrents and the old-fashioned way (you can see their full guide here).

At least one person has already started planning for a similar ban in case it ever happens in the U.S.
