When he's not busy effortlessly forcing you to reevaluate your existence thanks to a seemingly endless series of posse-related activities, confirmed Man of the People Leonardo DiCaprio frequently delivers Oscar-worthy performances in near-perfect examples of cinematic mastery.

For his latest artistic hat trick, DiCaprio joins Tom Hardy in Birdman director Alejandro G. Iñárritu's The Revenant — inspired by the apparently bear-heavy existence of legendary explorer Hugh Glass. After being abandoned by his pals in the wake of a bear attack, Glass (DiCaprio) must claw his way back home during a particularly brutal winter using only the power of DiCaprio as his metaphorical compass.

The Revenant brings its bear survival tactics to a theater near you on January 8, 2016.
