The Guild is "craft marijuana, compassionately curated, delivered directly to your fingertips." At least, that's the way they bill themselves on their website.

The Guild is like Birchbox, a subscription service that lets you try different weed products by delivering them to your door every month. It's the "try before you buy" mentality: while Birchbox might send you sample-sized lotions or facial cleanser, the Guild, a California-based company, will send you candies, edibles, and cannabidiols with low doses of THC.

"We're the modern-day milkman," Ronald Falcioni, CEO of the Guild, told Business Insider.

Falcioni and his co-founder, Emily Thorpe, moved from New York to San Francisco after they became interested in figuring out how much medical marijuana someone needs in a month. Thorpe described their target user as someone whose "life doesn't revolve around marijuana." (All the Guild members are required to prove their medical marijuana patient status.)

While it's unclear what the size of that market is, the Guild wants you to know they're not here for stoners.

"We're reaching people who aren't looking for weed," Falcioni told Business Insider. A confusing business model, for sure, considering it's a company that sells weed.
