The next Spider-Man movie might have a lot in common with Pretty in Pink, The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, according to Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige.
Speaking to Slashfilm, Feige dropped this quote that will either be encouraging or infuriating depending on how you feel about classic '80s high school classics.
"Spider-Man will be a 'John Hughes' movie," Feige said.
John Hughes wrote and directed the movies mentioned above, plus Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Uncle Buck and many others, but overall he's pretty much known as the king of high school films in the '80s.
So this means Peter Parker will have detention and spend his days outfoxing his arch nemesis/principal and trying to score (possibly with his robot girlfriend)?
At the least, it sounds like they're going to make it a very high school-based movie, and hiring Tom Holland (who's 19 but looks way younger) to play Spidey seems to fit with that.
While it's unclear if we're going to get an origin story - again - at least it sounds like we'll get a Spider-Man villain who hasn't appeared in any of the movies yet, according to what Feige told Collider.
“Right now we’re interested in seeing villains we haven’t seen before,” Feige said.
