Man Steals Bag With $150,000 Cash That ATM Workers Just Forgot About

Man took off with $150,000 cash after ATM workers left it behind on the ground.

A very sensible man picked up a bag containing $150,000 cash that ATM workers left behind on a front lawn in Mawah, New Jersey. Police say that two maintenance men set the bag down while they were shuffling things around in their vehicle, and then simply drove away, forgetting about the money. Like clockwork, a man drove up in a white van and took the bag. Blame the childhood board game Monopoly, blame human tendencies, or blame the employees' forgetfulness—but this man capitalized on a situation and walked away much, much richer. He was caught on surveillance footage, and later seen again stealing used tires from an auto repair shop, perhaps somehow unaware that he newly had hundreds of thousands of dollars at his disposal.

That feels a little less serendipitous and a little more involved that happening upon a bag of money on the ground—we wonder, is this just a bank heist movie starring Clive Owen? We'll know soon enough—police are currently investigating the ATM workers.
