A 30-year-old Mississippi man died over the weekend after being arrested and hogtied (that's when hands and feet are tied together) by police.

Troy Goode was arrested at a South Haven, Miss. shopping center around 7:45 p.m. as he was heading home from a Widespread Panic concert he was at with some friends. His wife, Kelli Goode, was driving him when an allegedly intoxicated Goode got out of the car and reportedly began to act “erratically” causing bystanders to call the police. Police arrived on the scene, held him down and hogtied him before paramedics strapped Goode to a stretcher face down and took him to Baptist Memorial Hospital.

One witness to the arrest David A. McLaughlin, a Memphis-based attorney (whose son recorded part of the incident as seen above) told the Daily Dot,

“Mr. Goode was convulsing, or fighting against his restraints, and I don't know why, but it was clearly—I said on the video it looks like he's claustrophobic, that's the only way I could describe it. His body was writhing. At that point, I was very concerned with his safety.”

According to the Goode family’s attorneys, at around 9 p.m. the hospital said Goode’s condition was stable. The family alleges they were told if they showed up about at the hospital they’d be arrested for obstruction of justice.  An hour later, Goode’s wife received a call from the hospital saying he was dead.

Today Southaven police speculated Goode may have taken LSD before the concert, but that couldn’t be confirmed until a toxicology report returned. Similarly, McLaughlin said a fire department official at the scene told him Goode was on LSD: “I asked him what his source was on that and he didn't have one.”

Goode family attorney Kevin McCormack said, “At this point, we are awaiting the results of the autopsy to determine what course of legal action we're going to take. We are requesting that there be an investigation.”

Goode is survived by 15-month-old son Ryan.
