Kidulthood star Adam Deacon has been convicted of sending abusive messages online to his former co-star Noel Clarke.
It apparently all stemmed from Deacon’s hood movie spoof Anuvahood. Noel Clarke told the court: "We fell out in 2011 due to the fact that the films that I had made—Kidulthood and Adulthood—were very popular and in 2010 Mr Deacon asked if he could do a film which was a spoof of the film that I had done." Initially he agreed, but they then fell out over a contact that cut him out of the project, and over the use of the name ‘Anuvahood’.
As their relationship deteriorated, Deacon then started to send him a “barrage” of harassment on line, including death threats. At one point he sent Clarke a photo of his family accompanied by a picture of a gun.
District Judge Shenagh Bayne told Deacon: “You were aware of the effect that your behaviour would have. You clearly were trying to illicit a response from Mr Clarke otherwise why post #wallofsilence, #industry and #standuptobullies. I am satisfied so that I am sure that you intended to cause him harassment and distress because of your grievance that goes back a long time.”
Deacon will be sentenced on August 20.
