McKinney Police Officer of Brutal Pool Party Arrests Resigns

He resigns three days after the video emerged.

Over the weekend a video emerged of a police officer brutally arresting teens at a McKinney, Texas pool party, grabbing one girl’s hair (later identified as 15-year-old Dajerria Becton) and throwing her to the ground, after which the McKinney police officer, Cpl. Eric Casebolt, was suspended. Today a second video emerged, showing a fight between teens breaking out prior to the arrests, and now comes news of Casebolt’s resignation.

Casebolt’s resignation was confirmed by his lawyer Jane Bishkin, who told WFAA. Casebolt was a ten year McKinney Police Department veteran.

McKinney PD released a statement about the incident on Sunday via its Facebook page:

McKinney Police later learned of a video that was taken at the scene by an unknown party. This video has raised concerns that are being investigated by the McKinney Police Department. At this time, one of the responding officers has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of this investigation.”

UPDATE 6:50 p.m. : McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley gave a press conference addressing the situation and called Casebolt's actions "out of control." Conley added, “I had 12 officers on the scene. Eleven of them did exactly what we would want them to do.”

According to Conley, three police officers first arrived on the scene after receiving reports of a fight, with nine more officers arriving later on.
