NBC is renewing Undateable for a third season, according to the Hollywood Reporter, with all episodes airing live.

The announcement to renew the sophomore comedy comes just after NBC and other networks cutting tons of shows earlier today. NBC has cut eight shows total this year, more than any other major network. Now, with About a Boy canceled and crowd favorite Parks and Rec off the air, Undateable becomes NBC's best bet at having a wildly  successful comedy, which is troublesome because the buzz around the show hasn't been that great

Maybe that's part of the reason why all episodes will be aired live in this upcoming season. THR explains, "The decision to go all live comes after Undateable's first live show, which aired May 5 and produced separate telecasts for the East and West Coast, drew steady but not spectacular ratings."

So maybe the producers, including the comedic legend Bill Lawrence, want to give it another shot and see if they can do better. After all, the show is no stranger to trying new things—the cast did a nation-wide comedy tour to promote their second season.

NBC's decision to renew the series also makes Undateable the network's longest-running scripted comedy on the air, according to THR. Here's hoping it works out.
