Nearly a week after Amtrak Train 188 crashed in Philadelphia, Amtrak has restored service between Philadelphia and D.C. a full day earlier than anticipated. The crash killed eight and left over 200 others injured.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, the company issued a statement yesterday explaining that service would resume this morning:
Effective with departures from Philadelphia at 5:53 a.m. (Train 110) and New York City at 5:30 a.m. (Train 111), all Amtrak Acela Express, Northeast Regional and other services resume, the statement read.
The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the FBI is currently investigating a claim that Train 188 was struck by some object prior to derailing.
