HBO Teams Up With Twitch to Stream 'Silicon Valley' Series Premiere

The first show to broadcast on the platform.

If you're not a gamer you probably don't spend much time on Twitch.tv, but the streaming platform acquired by Amazon last year wants to change that. Twitch partnered up with Ultra to stream the music festival last month, and now it's teaming up with HBO to broadcast the Silicon Valley series premiere. This will be the first time any network has broadcasted a show on the streaming service.

Fans who tune into Twitch April 8 at 3 p.m. (EST) will see a live Q&A and gaming session with the Silicon Valley stars before the show airs. The broadcast is also set to include an exclusive clip from season two.

"We were initially impressed by the scale of Twitch as a platform," said Sabrina Caluori, HBO's vice president of digital and social media. "As we began working with them, we discovered that there's real quality engagement in addition to huge reach — it's rare to find both."

With gets like this and Ultra, Twitch is on solid path to gaining an audience outside of gaming.

Look out for the Silicon Valley season two premiere April 12.
