Mad Men is the antithesis of boring. It is one of the most lit series of TV's Golden Age. With the impending series finale, the tube is losing a modern classic later this year. And yet, the streets are populated with philistines who watched one episode and deem the Emmy-dominating show slow, eschewing the patience required for character-first, plot-later dramas and bemoaning the lack of anything happening.

A lot happens in Mad Men, fam. It's home to some of the most interesting people to grace the small screen, but also some of the most narratively subversive story arcs. Tonight, the final run of the series begins, and by the time the finale comes around, the talk amongst TV-watchers elite will be deafening. And those who lamed may consider coming around again to see what the hype is about. Now's as good a time to convince those erstwhile friends of yours that they're missing out on greatness. In the event that they need the carrot before the stick, here's evidence that Mad Men is in fact not boring. These are 10 of the most exciting (but not necessarily best) episodes you can use to ensnare said friend and get them acquainted. Lead the horses to water.

Lit factor: Extended, full-cast birthday party

It's Don Draper's birthday! And his hot, young new wife proves that she's as out of her element as she is well-intentioned by organizing the one thing anyone who's spent four seasons with Don knows he's bound to hate: a surprise birthday party. Consisting of all of his co-workers (she even invites his financial advisor) in his home, it's the very last thing a man so super committed to the church and state principle like Don wants, even when his wife is being fucking perfect. It's the perfect scenario to stage for Mad Men's first two-hour extravaganza, allowing tensions and shade to build organically. God bless Matthew Weiner for staging marital fireworks in the Drapers 2.0's first episode as an actual couple. Here's a preview:
