Here's a fun '90s fact for you. In 1992, Craig T. Nelson won the Emmy for Best Male Lead in a Comedy Series for Coach. Among the losers he beat: Jerry Seinfeld.

It's ironic in retrospect, because one show went on to become arguably the greatest sitcom of all time, continuing on in syndication to the point that you can still watch it pretty much whenever you want, and sparking crazy bidding wars in 2015. Meanwhile, Coach felt almost completely forgotten, until today.

NBC has plans for Nelson to come back as coach Hayden Fox in a new spinoff series, Variety reports.

The show will follow Fox as he comes out of retirement to assist his head coach son with getting a new football program off the ground at an Ivy League university in Pennsylvania.

There's no title, or word on whether there could be a role for any of the other stars of Coach, which included Bill Fagerbakke as Dauber, an assistant coach who was essentially the human version of Patrick the starfish from SpongeBob Squarepants. Oh, and Fagerbakke was the voice of Patrick on SpongeBob Squarepants (mind officially blown).

I'd say it's highly doubtful they'll get Terrence Howard back either. Just a gut feeling

Also no word on how coach's NFL career went. The final season had Fox leading the fictional expansion team the Orlando Breakers to a playoff loss against the Buffalo Bills. Wow. It really was the '90s.
