A woman was arrested in New York City after a child was found unconscious in the bathroom of a Midtown burger restaurant on Monday. The 35-year-old mother reportedly soullessly killed her toddler and prevented him from getting help, according to the NY Daily News.
A bystander walked into the bathroom when she saw the mother holding her hand over her son's mouth "to put him to sleep." She “blamed the devil,” a police source told the newspaper.
Restaurant workers became worried and tried to gain entry to the bathroom, but the mother had already locked herself inside. When they forced their way in, the toddler was unconscious and foaming at the mouth. The child was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
