Weeks after we first heard ABC wants to remake Uncle Buck as a show with an all-black cast, we're finding out just how serious the network is. Mike Epps has been tapped to star in the pilot, THR has confirmed. He'll play Buck Russell, the role originally played by John Candy in the 1989 John Hughes film.

Nia Long has also been cast as Alexis, the wife of Buck's younger brother.

The single-camera comedy is set to be written and produced by Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley. The two previously worked together on Scrubs and Mad TV. Phil Traill will direct.
