Award-winning New York television reporter Lisa Colagrossi died yesterday while on an assignment in Queens. The 49-year-old mother of two had a massive brain aneurysm while returning from covering a four-alarm fire and never regained consciousness after she was taken to the hospital. "She was in the news van after finishing her live shot when she said ‘Oh my God, something is wrong,’ ” a friend said. Her producer flagged down an ambulance."

Colagross had been at WABC-TV since 2001 and was previously an anchor at WKMG in Orlando and got her start at WKYC in Cleveland. She had also won several local Emmy awards and recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Florida Associated Press.

“Lisa Colagrossi embodied the Eyewitness News spirit — a straightforward reporter who told the truth, empathetic to the everyday citizens of the New York area, and demanding of those in power,” said Dave Davis, President and General Manager of WABC-TV said in a statement. ”All of us in the Channel 7 family are in shock over her sudden death. Our attention is now focused on helping her husband and two children though this difficult time."
