Following in the live-action footsteps of Disney’s already successful Cinderella remake, and what will undoubtedly be another box office hit, Beauty and the Beast, Mulan is the latest Disney princess to get a live-action film. The original 1998 animated film, one of Disney’s most diverse, which Deadline probably doesn’t appreciate, tells the Chinese tale of Hua Mulan, a girl who disguises herself as a man and enlists in the army to take her father’s place, going on to become a great warrior and hero. On her journey she gets by with a little help from her friends, like her trusty sidekick Mushu, a dragon voiced by Eddie Murphy. No word on casting yet, but hopefully Disney doesn't waste this opportunity to right the wrongs of Asian representation on screen.
