We'd heard that Morena Baccarin, aka Dr. Leslie Thompkins on Gotham, was jumping from the DC to the Marvel (sort of) universe as the female lead and love interest of Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool, but we didn't know what her character was until now.

A little bit of geeky connect the dots as reported on CBR put it all together after she sent this tweet:

1.

That alone didn't answer anything, but her tweet was followed up by this Instagram post from Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld:

The caption "#Deadpool 1st appearance Vanessa is New Mutants #98" is a reference to the first comic book appearance of Copycat in New Mutants No. 98 (when she was disguised as Domino). Her true first appearance was in X-Force No. 19, when she revealed herself as Copycat.

But that's all beside the point. Baccarin is playing Copycat, a character who like Deadpool (and Wolverine and Sabretooth and about a dozen others) was a Weapon X test subject.

In the upcoming movie she reportedly "grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face."
