Cuba Really Cashes In on Relaxed Trade Restrictions and Gets Netflix

Netflix got one step closer to world domination today by announcing its service was now available in Cuba, allowing citizens to kick back and enjoy a Cuba libre while binge watching themselves into depression. Rad.

And they’ll be able to do it for the U.S. rate of $7.99 per month! Netflix makes its business move following the December announcement that the U.S. government would relax trade restrictions with the Caribbean country for the first time since the 1960’s. 

Netflix co-founder and CEO, Reed Hastings, said of the deal:

“We are delighted to finally be able to offer Netflix to the people of Cuba, connecting them with stories they will love from all over the world. Cuba has great filmmakers and a robust arts culture and one day we hope to be able to bring their work to our global audience of over 57 million members.”
