Hugh Jackman is in Berlin, but he just did a press conference in Spain. In what's being touted by Sony as a historic move, Jackman and director Neill Blomkamp appeared at a press conference for their movie Chappie via hologram. There was apparently a "second or so" delay in sound, but other than that it went off without a hitch.

"Chappie is a film of action, of relations, but also highly technological. So we wanted to do something which was innovative and non-conventional, the first holographic press conference in the history of cinema,” said Ivan Losada, director general of Sony Pictures Releasing de España. “The holographs allow us far more marketing not just because of the press conference’s content but also format. In this business, you’ve got to be very serious about numbers, but also have fun.”

Variety points out that Sony Spain also held press conferences for Fury at an army camp and The Smurfs 3D at an Andalusia village where the houses had been painted blue.
