To bring your mood down after a wonderful Christmas, HBO is currently running a marathon of every episode of their critically-acclaimed series The Wire. Remastered in HD, the show now displays some of Baltimore’s grittiest locations with perfect clarity, something that had previously been one of the show’s drawbacks.
In honor of the marathon, Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton has been cruising around the city today snapping photos of the filming locations and running them side-by-side with screenshots from the show’s 2002-2008 run. Some spots show a lot of progress, while others look remarkably the same. Here’s a sampling of what he’s run so far:
