Suspect Arrested in Connection with Portland High School Shooting

A suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting that left three people injured at a Portland high school yesterday afternoon, police say. 

According to the Associated Press, police stopped a vehicle around 1:30 a.m. and arrested a 22-year-old man. The Associated Press adds that a handgun was found inside of his vehicle.

The shooting took place at Rosemary Anderson High School, an alternative school for at-risk youths. Sixteen-year-old Taylor Michelle Zimmers suffered serious injuries, while 20-year-old David Jackson-Liday and 17-year-old Labraye Franklin were hospitalized in stable condition. Furthermore, the foot of 17-year-old Olyvia Batson was grazed by a bullet. Police sources say the suspect fled the scene with two other people shortly after the shooting.

Sgt. Pete Simpson told the Associated Press that the shooting "[appeared] to be gang-related."
