It’s happening: we now know when we have to say goodbye forever to the beloved residents of Pawnee, Indiana. Yes, even stupid Jerry.

The final season of Parks and Recreation will premiere on Tuesday, January 13, and will run back-to-back episodes every Tuesday thereafter building to the hour-long series finale on February 24. Yes, you read that right; NBC is giving arguably its best show exactly seven weeks to say goodbye, cramming every single episode into a narrow window of less than two months.

For shame.

NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt somehow claims this is actually a good thing, saying that “In an effort to give it the send-off it deserves, we wanted to ‘eventize’ the final season to maximize the impact of these episodes, which really do take the show to a new level.”

Rather than sully what will undoubtedly be a magical final season with negativity, though, instead everyone should simply enjoy the ride. This already amazing show has even more star power now thanks to Chris Pratt’s emergence as a legitimate A-lister, and it would seem likely that this final season will be easily the show’s highest rated.
