The BBC Are Planning Their Own £2bn Theme Park in Kent

Are we going to get Top Gear bumper cars or a Match Of The Day penalty shoot-out?

The BBC are set to build a theme park with rides and attractions based on their various TV shows.

Following on from the phenomenally successful Harry Potter Studios Tour in London, Paramount are teaming with the BBC to build a £2bn resort in Kent. The makes promise that the park will “combine the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture,” rather than just be Alton Towers with Doctor Who slapped all over it.

There’s no word yet on what shows or characters will get turns into rides. Sherlock and Doctor Who have been lapped up by international audiences, so there’ll definitely be some sort of Tardis simulator or a Benedict Cumberbatch mystery adventure in there. Top Gear go-karts also seem like an obvious one, though they might leave out the casual hatred of foreigners if they want to get tourists to come.

Personally, we’d like to see a Match Of The Day penalty shoot-out area, complete with pre-recorded, uninsightful commentary and advice from Alan Shearer. Or a bar where’s always the depressing Christmas party from The Office, complete with Ricky Gervais impersonators.

This is an artist's impression of what it might look like:
