Netflix have announced a new Netflix Original Series–The Crown–about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II and the monarch's relationship with Britain's post-war Prime Ministers. Each season will cover a decade in her life and a decade in the founding of modern Britain, starting with the young queen ascending to power and having to deal with her first Prime Minister–Winston Churchill.

The series is penned by Peter Morgan, who has already written biopic The Queen starring Helen Mirren as well political drama Frost/Nixon, and directed by Stephen Daldry, who has yet to make a feature film that wasn't Oscar nominated.

The series is set to be released everywhere in 2016.
