The rape of a 16-year-old girl by two men at an off-campus Halloween party thrown by a John's Hopkins University fraternity has triggered the organization's suspension.

According to the Washington Post, the incident took place during the early hours of Sunday morning at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house. The victim, who attended the party with her older sister, told police that two men assaulted her in the home's bathroom. The Post adds that the assailants are not believed to be associated with the university.

While an investigation is ongoing, Vice Provost for Student Affairs Kevin G. Shollenberger explained in an email to the Post that the suspension is related to the underage drinking at the party and "other possible violations of university policy."

Furthermore, Sigma Alpha Episole's spokesman Brian Weghorst told the Post that because the national organization doesn't own the house, it's difficult to control what happens there.
