Here's something to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving weekend: a sequel to Independence Day, the action blockbuster that officially transformed Will Smith from Fresh Prince to movie star, is coming in 2016.
According to Deadline, Fox execs gave the sequel the green light this week, which means production will start in May with a hopeful release date of June 24, 2016 (for some strange reason, not July 1, the Friday before actual Independence Day).
In celebration, let's watch the greatest fictional president of all time deliver the speech that makes me want to punch an alien in the face soo hard.
Sadly, Smith still hasn't agreed to come back to the franchise (but fingers crossed for Jeff Goldblum).
