A Kentucky fire chief's racist remarks were exposed earlier this week after footage of him making the comments was released.

According to Salon, Southeast Bullitt Fire Chief Julius Hartfield was caught saying "We ain’t taking no n****** here" by the body camera of a Bullitt County Sheriff's deputy in September. The deputy had reportedly just informed him that a family of four from Cincinnati was involved in a car accident.

WDRB, who obtained the footage, said that Hartfield proceeded to help Loren Dicken, a white male who was involved in the crash. However, WDRB notes that Hartfield was less willing to aid Chege Mwangi, his wife, and their two children:

Mwangi, who is black, says he didn't get the same treatment from the Southeast Bullitt Fire Department. He says he noticed firefighters helping Dicken, but not him or his family. Nevertheless, he didn't think anything of it because his family wasn't injured and didn't need assistance. He says he mostly dealt with the Bullitt County Sheriff's Department, which was helpful.

WDRB adds that the Kentucky State Auditor's Office is probing the incident.
