Dumb and Dumber To is a film twenty years in the making, and it looks like it's going to pay off. The sequel to the 1994 Jeff Daniels/Jim Carrey classic opened to just under $15 million Friday night, beating out Interstellar and Big Hero 6. Although some projections had it hitting $40 million for the weekend, it looks like it'll be closer to $36 million.

Despite a seemingly successful publicity campaign, the flick has a 27% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The original Dumb and Dumber has a 65% rating and accumulated $247 million worldwide. Interstellar is up to $135 million so far in just two weeks, while Big Hero 6 looks to hit $110 million by the end of the weekend. Beyond the Lights and Gone Girl rounded out the top five.
