Benedict Cumberbatch is so proper it hurts.
The Emmy-winning star of Sherlock, potential Oscar nominee for The Imitation Game, and possible star of Dr. Strange announced his engagement to theater director Sophie Hunter in the Wednesday edition of The Times, a British newspaper. This highly-traditional means of announcing an engagement has become largely a thing of the past, but clearly Cumberbatch is as old school as they come.
The relative anonymity of announcing engagement in between the birth of Peter Lee Yates and the death of Master of Wine George Edward Pollock Dowglass is decidedly different than how most celebrities choose to go about their business, but Cumberbatch is obviously not your average A-lister. He’s better. So, so much better.
