The fifth season of The Walking Dead premieres tomorrow, October 12, but AMC has split it up into two parts, similar to Mad Men's final run. At the panel at New York ComicCon this weekend, executive producer Gale Anne Hurd announced the mid-season premiere.
The first eight episodes will air between tomorrow and November 30; the first of the next eight episodes will premiere February 8. AMC hasn't named a date for Mad Men's spring premiere.
Talking Dead and @midnight host Chris Hardwick moderated the panel, which included Hurd, showrunner Scott Gimple, writer Robert Kirkland and special effects master and executive producer Greg Nicotero.
The Walking Dead premieres Sunday, October 12 at 10 p.m. E.T.
