Missouri State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed was arrested tonight while protesting in front of the Ferguson police station. A fellow protestor said Nasheed, a Democrat representing Missouri's fifth district, walked in the street after police told protestors not to do so.

Nasheed has been calling for the U.S. Department of Justice to open up an investigation into the death of Vonderrit Myers, the 18-year-old shot by an off-duty officer earlier this month. She's also promised to introduce a Senate bill in January that would impose a mandatory 10 year sentence on anyone convicted of a gun-related crime.
