Shots fired from Michael Keaton!

In 1989, Keaton played Batman in a very successful adaptation by Tim Burton that grossed over $400 million worldwide. Clearly, he’s still got a lot of pride in his character, because he had the following to say to EW when asked about Christopher Nolan’s version:

“Chris Nolan is great, but I’ve never seen any of the Batman movies all the way through. I know they’re good. I just have zero interest in those kinds of movies. I mean, people are asking me, ‘Is Ben Affleck going to be any good?’ And my attitude is, First of all, why would you ask me? Second, he’s probably going to be very good, and third, frankly, it’s all set up now so that you’re weirdly kind of safe. Once you get in those suits, they really know what to do with you. It was hard then; it ain’t that hard now.”

Ouch. Sure, he’s probably just trying to say that he has moved on with his life and that the wealth of previously-made Batman movies gave Nolan plenty of source material to work with. But what’s the fun in reading it logically? Let’s go with this interpretation instead:

Michael Keaton hates Christopher Nolan!

The Batman war is on!
